10th December Continued

We watched an advert for a Mustang car being made out on the street today.  Absolutely shattered tonight (jet lag I think) Our room had been cleaned again tonight, twice in one day, the cleaning lady hides and waits til we go off and then sneaks back in.  We also saw an airship going over tonight, weird. 
Sunday  11th December 
We had much better sleep last night, were up before 7.00am.  It is overcast.
What a crazy day - We got the big blue bus to Santa Monica (1 dollar each)  It was so beautiful, especially the pier, really interesting.  From there we walked to Venice Beach, a really good experience which will have to wait until next blog

The Falklands - Los Angeles - Australia - Singapore

I just put the Falklands in as a red herring.
8th December 2011
We spent our first night in Travelodge at Manchester Airport.  The food was good, staff very helpful but the bed was really poor, very thin mattress, amazing what you can book and pay for on the internet.  At the Airport BA were selling upgrades from Heathrow to Los Angeles so we went for it on impulse..We were sat on the plane for an hour before setting off (another hour added to our 10 and a half hour flight.  We landed in La and found our shuttle bus to the hotel with no problem, but having picked us up it went round all the terminals more than once picking up another 5 passengers.  An extra hour and a half added to our journey............hey ho!
Wiltshire Grand Downtown has over 900 rooms, what a place.  Firstly, we were given a room which was already occupied, so we trecked to reception for another to be allocated (more sleep time wasted) followed by a man with a fridge, which we had requested, this bloke with full sized fridge cheerfully followed us until we were in the right room.
Saturday 10th December
Really comfy big beds, strange sleep as the body does not know what time it is.  Up at 6.30 am and we are up for an adventure today I think.
The sun shines and the traffic flows.what a difference a good shower makes!  Off for an all American breakfast (paid for on the internet)  The breakfast should last us all day - the sun is shining so we are off!!!
Well, we have had a very interesting day - found a great big supermarket just round the corner, everything we need is there.  We had a good walk round, the sun shone, did not need woollies, but we did need sun tan lotion and sun glasses
